ADFIAP Leads Regional Seminar on Green Governance and Sustainable Risk Management
As part of a transformative push for climate-responsive finance, the Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific, through its ADFIAP Institute, convened its International Seminar-Workshop on Green Governance: Sustainable Risk Management and Compliance for Financial Institutions from August 11 to 15, 2025, in Makati City, Philippines.
Led by development banking experts Ms. Nida Pagdanganan and Ms. Bing Aquino, the five-day program brought together professionals from Cambodia and the Philippines who are at the forefront of strategic planning, risk management, credit evaluation, and sustainability finance. The seminar-workshop served as a dynamic platform for learning, collaboration, and action—uniting regional leaders around a shared mission to strengthen institutional governance and address the growing risks posed by climate change.
Throughout the week, participants explored a comprehensive curriculum that covered the foundations of risk management, the whole risk management process, credit risk assessment, and the principles of good governance. Each session was designed not only to deepen technical knowledge but also to connect these concepts with the broader goals of environmental sustainability and institutional resilience.
What set the program apart was its emphasis on applied learning. From day one, participants were challenged to analyze real-world governance and risk scenarios, integrating new insights as the course progressed. This hands-on approach culminated in the development and presentation of actionable plans—custom strategies that each participant could implement within their organization to enhance governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
The seminar-workshop blended expert-led lectures, diagnostic assessments, individual exercises, and solution-focused discussions. Participants praised the program’s relevance and practicality, noting that the insights gained were not only valuable for risk managers but also for senior decision-makers shaping their institutions’ sustainability agendas.
More than just a training event, the seminar fostered meaningful cross-border dialogue and knowledge exchange, reinforcing ADFIAP’s commitment to building the capacity of its member institutions. As development banks continue to play a pivotal role in financing climate action, programs like this ensure that they are equipped with the tools, strategies, and networks to lead with purpose and impact.
